As a relatively new scientific field, Intercultural Communication is facing many problems and challenges. The first problem is related to its borderlining or its intercultural communication concept and characteristics that differentiate itself from other scientific fields. Another problem is related to the formulation of communication theories used in examining the intercultural phenomenon. The existence of different theoritical perspectives forces the development of taxonomy theory in Intercultural Communication that is based on two ortogonal dimensions or assumptions nature of the social science. Consequently, the different theoretical perspectives bring about some implications on a different methodology. Even so, the varied approaches will supplement the limited capacity of each approach.
