The writing is trying to explore the development of the Indonesian Press in two periods: the New Order, which just ended, and the Reformation Era which is still taking place. The development of the Indonesian Press will be viewed from two out of four well-known world press theories: Authoritarian and Libertarian theories. The aim of this writing is to give a kind of reflection in a form of an analogy in order to understand the development of the Indonesian Press in these two periods. The system approach in press is also included here to answer the problem of pornography readings in the Indonesian Press. The readings was once being debated by press observers.
