Abstract
A common prevention to the diseases bacterial infection and to increase the
chicken immunity was only given by a daily antibiotic ransom via food and drink. The
presence of antibiotic residu in the egg and meat also followed by the bacterial resistance
to antibiotic became a problem.
The research was to find out the mechanism of lactic acid bacterial probiotic
indigenous local chicken to adhere the epithe lial cell of gut mucous layer. Fifteen of day
old broiler chicken were divided into five groups with three chicken each. These chicken
were given : a) a standard food as a control, b) food and antibiotic, c) food and
Streptococcus thermophillus Kp probiotic,d) food and Pediococcus acidilactici K6
probiotic, e) food and both probiotic mixtures. All chicken were autopsied at the 42 nd
day, then protein was extracted from the epithelial cell of the gut mucous layer
(duodenum, jejunum, ileum and caecum). The protein extracted product was analysed by
SDS-PAGE method using 10% acrylamide gel and 3% stacking gel for 1,5 hour at 100
voltage.
Protein profile showed that both probiotic could not completely adhere to the
epithelial cell of broiler chicken gut, each probiotic had always two bright bands that
could not matched into the protein profile of gut epithelial cell. The mixture of both
probiotic would give a better adherence to gut epithelial cell than that only one probiotic
eventhough it still had one missing band. A daily ransom of antibiotic could inhibit the
growth and adherence of probiotic to the gut epithelial cell. This interested result should
be continued to find out the histological eftect of lactic acid bacterial probiotic to the
chicken gut.
