Abstract. This paper deals with teaching English in Elementary school as a local content.: its problems and solutions to solve the problems. The problems that may emrge in applying the programare among others: the readiness of the teacher, the availibiity of the curriculum and teaching materials, teaching aids and teaching strategies. To solve those problems the following strategies are suggested: (1) traing English teachers for elementary school via workshop, upgrading and simulation, (2) developing curriculum and teaching materials to support the need of teaching English in Eelemtary School as a local content
