This paper demonstrates the advantages of implementing quality concepts on an organizational level. The focus is to establish the relationships and responsibilities of the design, quality assurance, and manufacturing departments when implementing a quality improvement program in order to create a common meeting ground between departments. An electronic medium was created to benefit design, manufacturing, and quality assurance. This medium provides an opportunity for departments to evaluate and share information and includes a relational database, a database interface, and Statistical Process Control tools. The manufacturing process at Krispy Kreme, a donut producer, was modeled using the newly created database system. |
