Economic growth is crucial to increase human development. Experience shows that it is not merely more growth but also equality in development that can improve welfare, especially for the poor. The Bekasi Regency is a central economic growth in Indonesia with an industrial sector as its basic sector. Economic growth of the Bekasi Regency has increased from 2001 to 2003. The objective of this study is to determine the degree of economic development disparity and the degree of human development disparity between sub-districts in Bekasi Regency; as well as the relationship between these two sectors. The results showed that the degree of economic development disparity between subdistricts in Bekasi Regency is too striking and there is indication that this disparity becomes wider in 2003. The degree of human development disparity between sub-districts is striking and there is indication this disparity becomes wider in 2003. There is a moderate relationship between economic development and human development in Bekasi regency. The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita of West Java province from 2001 to 2003 is the highest, however, the results of human development is not comparable to economic development considering to humant development index in Bekasi regency is ranked in the tenth position in West Java province.
