Isi artikelSecondary galucoma cause blindness on 25% - 71% patients. There is no previous data about yhe prevalence of secondary glaucoma in dr. Saiful Anwar hospital Malang. The aim this study was to find out the pattern of secondary glaucoma among patients who visited the outpatient clinic of dr. Saiful Anwar hospital during 2001 to 2005. Retrospective data of new patients with secondary glaucoma that had been reffered to glaucoma division during 5 years period (January 2001 to December 2005) had been reviewed from medical records. The patient's age, sex, cause of galucoma, visual acuity, and laterality had been recorded. diagnostic criteria had been determine based on diagnostic glaucoma in cross sectional prevalence surveys. There were 135 cases of secondary glaucoma consisting of 91 males and 43 females. Patient's mean age was 48.7 ± 19.9 years, ranging from 2 to 85 years. The cases that diagnosed with category 1 were 8 cases, category 2 were 35 cases, category 3 were 90 cases, and 2 cases could not be categorized. The causes of secondary glaucoma were uveitis-induced glaucoma (27.41%), cataract-induced glaucoma (22.22%), traumatic induce glaucoma (14.81%), aphakic and pseudophakic glaucoma (14.07%), neovascular glaucoma (8.15%), lens subluxation or luxation induced glaucoma (6.67%), steroid induced glaucoma (4.44%), and others (2.23%). Patient's visual acuity when firstly came were NLP (8%), LP and hand motion (50%), 1/60-2/60 (26%), =3/60 (15%), and difficult to evaluate (1%). 93.33% cases were unilateral and 6.67% cases affecting both eyes. In this study, most patient were in middle-age with predominantly male, and came to the hospital with bad visual acuity. The majority of cases were unilateral and diagnosed with category 3. the most common cause of secondary glaucoma was uveitis-induced glaucoma.
