Isi artikelOptical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a new medical diagnostic imaging technology which can perform micron resolution cross-sectional imaging in biological tissue. The operation of OCT is analogous to B-scan ultrasound except that light is used rather than accoustic waves. OCT imaging is performed by directing a beam of near-infrared light (820 nm) into the tissue and using the principle of low coherence interferometry to measure the time delay to reflected or backscattered light from the microstructures within the tissue. computerized-image processing calculates optical reflectivity, and the images are displayed in false-colors tomographic image of tissue microstructure, which appears emarkably similar to histolic section. OCT is useful for imaging retina disorders including macular holes, macular edema, age-related macular degeneration, central serous chorioretinopathy, epiretinal membrane, diabetic retinopathy, chorioretinal inflammatory disease. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive, non-contact imaging system, it produce highly resolution retina images, it also provides data that are objective, quantitative, and highly resolutional retina images, it also provides data that are objective, quantitative, and highly reproducible. OCT is a useful tool for evaluation the retina diseases.
