Isi artikelRoad traffic injury is main caused disability and mortality in the development countries. Injury surveillance system in emergency department had limited information. In Indonesia, road traffic injury surveillance system on motorcyclist. Research was done to develop injury surveillance model by registry method. Instrument's test was done in five emergency departments of hospital in DKI Jakarta areas along Oktober 2005. Respondents for quantitative data were victims of motorcycle accident admitted to emergency department. Respondents for qualitative data were instrument's user (doctor, nurse in emergency department and medical record provider). Data collected by interview method with registry from and indept interview with triangulation for qualitative method. Result of developing instrument was injury registry form within format two pages and content 46 questions. Instrument tested along one month with 425 cases. Victims of motorcycle accident had severe injury 41.9% and death 7.04%. Head injury 53.4% with comosio cerebri (10.59%) as main injuries and knee-lower leg (10.6%) was the second injuries. Type of injuries were superficial (86.8%), excoriasi (58.35%) and fracture (31.29%). Risk factors of injury severity were no proper helmet used two way traffic and night accident. Injury registry form could be answered 93.5%, applied and developed in 80% hospitals. Instrument (format and content) could be received and understanded by user (80% doctors, nurses (93.3%), 86.6% medical record provider). Results showed that injury surveillance system for motorcycle accident could be developed, applied and received in emergency department.
