SOM neural network can be applied in wide area. Basically the previous research was conducted on the investigation and choosing parameter SOM neural network in the certain area. This paper investigate the application of SOM neural network in the classification image. specially in the choosing of the neighborhood size. It is show that the neighborhood size parameter will effect on the quality of classification image. If the neighborhood too big the sensitivity of clustering will be reduced and result of image classification will be coarse classification.
