Normally, the stability of the SOM neural network is caused by the bigger learning rate parameter. In the previous research the oscillation SOM is caused by the bigger learning rate. This paper study the stability of the SOM neural network based on the network size and learning rate parameter. It is showed that the bigger network size will affect on the stability of the SOM neural network, whereas in the learning rate parameter the effect is not significant.
