This month’s Professional Profile features my friend of 15 years and the coeditor of this journal for the past 10 years. I first met Deborah in 1988 when I took the administrator-director position for a hospital-based home care program in which she was the clinical director. Together in 1991, we founded Advantage Health Care Management Resources, which was later incorporated to Advantage Consultants, Inc. Deborah’s national presentation experience began in 1990 when we spoke on the topic of discharge planning at the National Association for Home Care’s annual meetingin Texas. This was the first of many national presentations given by Deborah and became our first published work (i.e., discharge planningfor the home care organization). Alongwith the opportunity to write that book came the opportunity to coedit this journal, which we undertook in 1992. With this issue of the journal, Deborah completes 10 years as coeditor. Duringthese 10 years, Deb has continued to contribute to the written body of knowledge about home health care through her many published works, includingreg ularly writingfor the journal. Her published works include coauthoringthe following: Home Care Aide Pocket Guide, OASIS Integration Manual, Clinical Policies and Procedure Manual (1st and 2nd eds.), Human Resource Management for Home Care, Clinical Pathways for the Multi-Disciplinary Home Health Care Team, Discharge Planning for Home Health Care: A Multidisciplinary Approach, Home Health Redesign (Aspen), Job Descriptions and Performance Appraisals, Safety Manual for Home Care (1st and 2nd eds.), Infection Control for Home Care(1st and 2nd eds.), and Home Health Care Policies and Procedures (Advantage Health Care Management Resource). In addition, she worked on the initial development of the Aide Educator (a monthly subscription in-service product) with Advantage Consultants. Deborah has been committed to writingand has made many regular contributions to the journal, includingAccreditation Actions, Diversity Discussions, Resource Reviews, Professional Profiles, and We Were Thinkingcolumns. In addition, Deborah has published numerous articles and chapters in other publications and has presented at numerous state, regional, and national conferences.
