The Olmstead and Cooke (2003) article in this issue is an excellent example of the implementation of an outcomes manager role for advance practice nurses. The success of this program at the North Mississippi Medical Center Home Health can be attributed to several key factors in the planning and implementation process outlined in the article. These factors include the environment, appropriate use of expertise, transitional phase, and priority setting. Suggestions for improvement focus on the phrasing of goals and the inclusion of outcomes.
