Isi artikel
There has been perpetuation of a myth about the health status of Asian Americans among the general American public (Chen, 1998; Chen & Hawks, 1995). In part, the myth is derived from the fact that Asian Americans as a group have a better education and a higher family income; therefore, Asian Americans should have fewer health issues. As an aggregate, Asian Americans do compare favorably on some health indicators. However, this generalization masks the bimodal distribution pattern of health status (similar to education attainment and family income) and substantial differences between the various subgroups of Asian Americans.
