Isi artikelThe purpose of this article is to discuss domestic elder abuse by health care providers. Domestic elder abuse refers to physical, psychological, and sexual abuse; financial or material exploitation; and neglect of an older person by a spouse, sibling, child, friend, or caregiver in the elderly person’s residence or the home of a caregiver (National Center on Elder Abuse, 2002b). It has been well documented that health care providers abuse elders in institutional settings. Little has been written about the abuse of elders by health care providers in domestic settings. Consider the following situation.
