Isi artikelBackground: The genetically determined epigenetic characteristics can be related to race, migrations and geographical separation patterns facator. The meaningfulness of these characteristics study is that we can estimate genes ingeritance fro human skeleton reamains in the burial context, look for genetic relation tract among acient population and give information about population dynamics. Nowadys, this study also plays an important role in osteologic analysis; it may particularly record bone materials that is fragmentary, incomplete and less maintained from the remains of paleoanthropological or archaeological human. These studies can complete each other and may affirm the metric features research results. Objective: The aim of this study is to find out the biological difference and affinity of epigenetic and metric characteristics of upper viscerocranium from the skull smperl of Liang Bua, Leoleba, Melolo, and Ntodo Leseh in Nusa Tenggara Timur. Materials and methods: Adults human skulls from the four sites have been selected according to anatomical-anthropological, sex, biological age, as well as epigenentic and metric characteristics criteria. Kruskal-Wallis' non-parametric analysis is applied to the quantitative data, while Anova, Scheffe and Bivariate Scatterplot test are applied to the quantitative data. Result and Conclusion: The biological differences and affinity of the epigenetic and metric characteristics on Australomelanesid upper viscerocranium' sample in Nusa Tenggara Timur are influenced by the chronologic of population migration, geographical separation, and mongolodisation process wich more to the east since Paleometallic Age. The epigenetic and metric characteristics studies can complete each other and afferm biological research results of human skeleton, without ignoring knowledge contributions and scientiffis methods from various discipline.
