The way medical care is accessed, delivered, paid for, and monitored in the United States is undergoing dramatic and rapid changes. Some might refer to it as a revolution. The health education specialist practicing within the health care setting is challenged to redefine the more traditional roles; use new communication technologies to assist with the education of patients, their families, and health professionals; and identify new practice strategies.
