Body image syndromes and gender identity syndromes may coexist or be independent. Whereas body image applies to the self, lust image applies to the target of one’s lustful yearning. Body image syndromes and lust image syndromes both may have an early childhood origin. Both may have developmental continuity. Narrative continuity is not synonymous with causal continuity, though both may overlap. Doctrines of causality may be secularized versions of religious doctrines. Secularized doctrines of causality lack an adequate database derived from long-range biographical outcome studies dating from embryonic life onward. Outcomes vary in stability and periodicity. Masculine and feminine dimensionality is not uniaxial but multiaxial. Each axis extends along a gradient with masculine and feminine at the extremes and androgynous in between. Body image and lust image each have their own axis and may or may not be concordant with the lovemap as a whole.
