Isi artikel
Anatomic the styloid process is a slender, cylindric bony outgrowth located immediately in front of the stylomastoid foramen and fused to the inferior aspect of the temporal bone. The normal length of the styloid process varies from 20 to 30 mm. The styloid process is often denoted when it is longer than 30 mm or 33 mm. Eagle's syndrome is thought to be caused by an elongated styloid process. The actual cause of the elongation is a poorly understood process, but several theories have been proposed.
