Isi artikelThe purpose of this article is to describe how a worksite periodic health examination evolved into a program with greater emphasis on employee responsibility and accountability; to determine the effectiveness of a worksite preventive exam reminder letter program; and to gauge whether the letter encouraged employees to make an appointment with their physicians for a preventive exam. Approximately 25% of the employees who received the letter made an appointment with their physicians. Approximately 16% of the employees who had preventive exams learned something about their health of which they were previously unaware. The preventive exam reminder program is an effective method to encourage and remind employees to see their physicians for preventive exams. In future years, the method of delivering the reminder letter may change to one that is less time consuming and labor intensive and uses technology to deliver messages more cost-effectively.
