Isi artikelThis research was aimed to find out the problem root caused the less optimum process and result of Economic Mathematics Course at Economy Study Program, Specialty of Accountancy Education. This study was a qualitative-descriptive research conductedfrom May to July 2006 with the research subjects of the college students and the instructor. The problem root was discovered by analyzingfield data taken during the course process and the students ‘learning achievement. Meanwhile, the literature study was applied to get the feasible and rational action plan. From the data analysis by the use of instructor journals, video recording, interviews, and discussion with colleagues, it was found that the problem root was the class culture as learning community had not yet been build among the students. Dealing with above problem, the researcher planned to apply the model of Cooperative Learning on Learning Together type. This type was selected because it was the simplest type of the cooperative learning model and was considered feasible with the situation of the students, which had not been yet accustomed with the cooperative learning model. Also, it had special characteristic in the balance roles between instructor as a learning source and active function of the students in constructing the knowledge individually and socially.
