PHELI is a year-long institute focused on leadership development specifically for midcareer health education professionals who work in a variety of settings. Sponsored by the Association of State and Territorial Directors of Health Promotion and Public Health Education (ASTDHPPHE), the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE), and the Society of State Directors of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (SSDHPER), in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, the institute provides an integrated and sequential professional development training program to health educators in leadership positions from across the nation. During the past 5 years, 68 health educators and public health professionals have participated in this program
