Ihave an added fondness toward our government’s Healthy People series because it marks an anniversary of my entry into the field of health education. I was initially reared on the inaugural work of the 1979 Surgeon General’s Report, Healthy People, to which I looked passionately for guidance on health education rationales. Although mostly narrative—a health novel of sorts—it motivated us to focus on issues for which we could make a difference in improving the public’s health.
