Isi artikelFlood, as a natural phenomena, often happens to most rivers, it is usually due to high rainfall which exceeds channel capacity. Flood at Dayeuhkolot, Majalaya and Rancaekek area has almost occurred every year. Various flood control measures have been applied so far, were on!)’ temporary solutions to the problem and could not eventually handle it. This paper is intended to provide suggestion on how to control flood at southern area of Bandung through various approaching methods, from technical to questionnaire. To support the analytical process, the inundated area measurement as well as secondary data collecting has been carried out. As the result, it can be identified that average gradient of Citarum River from Dayeuhkolot to Curug Jompong is on!)’ 0.00034 with a velocity between 0.8 to 0.9 m/s. The cause of the flood which frequently happens at Rancaekek and Majalaya is dominated by the malfunction of drainage system because of clogging by inorganic trashes. There are three alternatives of solution to control the flood. First, lowering the elevation of Curug Jompong. Second, widening the channel’s cross section and third, construction regulating dam at Curug Jompong. Before the first and the last alternatives are to be executed, a comprehensive study needs to be accomplished for the)’ ma)’ affect in the river degradation which can probably damage the structures such as: bridges, weirs, linings etc.
