In February 2000, special sessions were held at the annual meeting of the Society for Cross-Cultural Research in honor of contributions of A. Kimball Romney. Because his work has spanned several subfields of the social sciences, three festschrift volumes were planned. The first was a special issue of Social Networks (Brewer, Johnson,&Weller, 2002), with contributions concerning measurement of social relationships. The second volume was a special issue of Field Methods (Johnson, Weller, & Brewer, 2002), with contributions concerning data collection methods and measurement techniques. This volume contains papers of a comparative nature with contributions by Roy D’Andrade; David Kronenfeld; Craig Rusch; Mark Glazer, Roberta Baer, Susan Weller, and Steve Liebowitz; and Marc Miller, John Kaneko, Paul Bartram, Joe Marks, and Devon Brewer.
