Segmentation is a process used to separate document images into their individual components. There are currently many algorithms available for segmentation. In this research, projection profiles of the input document were used to derive the image’s constituent characters. The result shows an 86.78 percent success rate using this method to segment images in modern Javanese manuscripts, specifically Menak Sorangan I and Panji Sekar. This leads us to conclude that the use of this document image segmentation method is appropriate.
