The concept of risk is beguilingly simple and yet, like many apparently simple ideas, it soon reveals itself to be much mre complex and subtle thatn originally anticipated. This paper will explore the concept of risk and briefly explains how it has become a defining concept in some societirs and barely visible in other societies. Some of the reasons for this are explored. The paper then goes on to lay a general framework for organisational risl management which can be used as a basis for identifying of management risk.
