Isi artikelAngiogenesis is a fundamental process in which new blood vessels are formed. Endothelial cells are esensial in this process. Normally (physiology conditions), angiogenesis is highly regulated, i.e. turned on for brief periods (days) and then completely inhibited, for example at placental and embryo development, menstrual cycle, and wound repair. However, in many conditions, the process is driven by persistent unregulated angiogenesis that cause deseases (pathological process), such as tumor growth and metastasis, lupus, arthritis, psoriasis, ulcer, ocular neovascularization, ischemia, and retinopathy diabeticum. Angiogenesis is a complex mechanism, regulated by many angiogenic factors and inhibitors that have been recognized. However, their interactions are not fully understood. Keywords: Angiogenesis, endothelial cells
