A sentence may be ambiguous. It is interesting to find out why a sentence is ambiguous and how the ambiguity can be avoided. Books and articles on grammar and on linguistics are consulted to answer the questions. Nonetheless, only few vooks deal with ambiguitis. There are two kinds of cause producing ambiguities. The use of lexicon creater lexical ambiguities and the sentence structures used result in structural ambiguities. To avoid ambiguities some different ways are proposed : providing additional context, changing the order of the clause, using punctuations, supplying ellipted elements, and changing the structural relationship. Although the grammatically of th esentence accounts for the ambiguity, it is suggested that the ambiguity be avoided.
