Isi artikelOne of beauty standards that gets so much attention is body shape. Most of mass media presenting actresses and models, who have attractive appearances with slim and tall bodies, persuading women that beauty, success, happiness, and self - esteem can be reached if women have body shape like them. Advertisements about herbal medicine, diet or slimming pills, and beauty clinics are so widespread that women don't seem to have a chance to think wisely and critically about the benefit and safety of the products. The influences of the media to promote an unrealistic body image, that is an ultra - thin body, are so big that many women experiencing body image dissatisfaction. The image of women body as represented through articles, advertisements, and TV programmes in mass media would give a dangerous effect if women don't have critical attitude in internalizing the messages of the media.
