DHF Serotype Analysis Development: Rapid assessment of serological finding in several serious outbreaks in Indonesia as policy inputs. Agus Suwandono, Bambang Heriyanto, Djoko Yuwono, Syahrial Harun dan Annorital Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an endemic disease in Indonesia and it has caused several serious outbreaks since 1968. Generally, although there was a decline in CFR of DHF, the DHF cases and the number of endemic districts were Increase. The objective of this rapid analysis was to know the possibility of changing trend of DHF serological types in Indonesia. The method used was to collect and review some of DHF outbreak investigation and studies carried out by National Institute of Health Research and Development and US Namru-2 within the period of 1992 to 2005. With some limitations, these rapid analyses showed that: 1). All four DHF serological types (DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4) could be found in Indonesia; 2). Since 1993, Den-3 had been predominant serology type of most outbreak in Indonesia, with the exception of outbreak in Bandung and Yogyakarta (DEN-2) as well as recent outbreak in Lombok, Kupang, Banda Aceh, and Samarinda (DEN-4); 3). DEN-4 had been significantly improved to be the second or the most predominant serology type in several areas in Indonesia; 4). Genotype of DEN-3 since 1988 was located in separate group as compared to the existence of four genotype of DEN-3; and 5). Genotype of DEN4 was still in a group with genotype 1b as the classical genotype found in DEN-4. It was concluded that it was important to carry out more deep research and to be consistent in policy control program. (Jumal Epidemiologl Indonesia Volume 8 Edlsl 2-2006: 1 - 9)
