This research was conducted at the Institut Bisnis dan Informatika Indonesia (1611) in Jakarta. The research aims at finding out whether a student is able to master English, especially to comprehend English textbooks, by attending a TOEFL class. The mandatory TOEFL class has been given since 1998. All students in all programs at IBII have to achieve a TOEFL score of 500 or more. This research used a descriptive method with a survey approach. The samples of the research were 104 students of 2004/2005 who attended the TOEFL class. The analysis of the research's results consists of 2 (two) types, relative frequency and scale range. The relative frequency was used to analyze the data of the respondents and students' experience in the TOEFL class On the other hand, the scale range was used to analyze the students' responses towards the TOEFL class. The results has shown that most of the students (female students) following the TOEFL class are from class of 2001 from the Accounting and Management programs. The respondents stated that the most difficult subject of the TOEFL class is Grammar and the easiest subject is Reading. Their scores after attending the class are various from 452 to 500. Descriptively, in this research, there Is no relationship between the students' responses and the TOEFL scores.
