Isi artikelNone of us doubt, the poor rate in the reading interest has become a classic lament among educated Indonesians. Campaigns against it have been put forth for an unsatisfactory result. One possible cause deals with the denied fact that reading is inseparable from writing. Their close relationship, though theoretically known, is often ignored in the sustainable establishment of the reading interest. The problem is then, how to create an integral effort that the reading and writing interest can increase simultaneously. As this article concerns, an integral teaching design for intensive reading and guided compos ition in the classroom may become a first-step-to-do in the acquisition process of the extensive reading interest.
