Isi artikelThis article will discuss one of the methods in language teaching, i. e. dictation. Although dictation is considered as one of the oldest methods in language teaching, we can do something on it to adjust it with nowadays needs. Dictation is often considered as the activity where all the power remains in the hands of the teacher. Dictation then can become a boring activity. This article discusses several aspects of dictation, including the consideration and preparation before we apply this method in class. There are some advantages and disadvantages of dictation and there some alternative ways to anticipate the disadvantages. This article also gives several alternatives of dictation activites, where the students can have an active role instead of a passive one.
