Isi artikel
We continue to hear a lot of arguments about the monetary policy of the Bank of Japan. In a mature market economy, monetary policy inherently constitutes the core of macroeconomic policy. In this light, the moves made by the central bank quite naturally attract attention, and specialists comment on them from a pariety of angles. In Japan, though, government officials also frequently comment on the central bank’s measures—even though the BOJ is supposedly independent of the government—and the fact that they make such comments regularly comes up for criticism.
