Isi artikel
Genetic material in cells is organized into chromatin, in which the DNA is associated with proteins known as histones. There are two main types of chromatin domain: euchromatin and heterochromatin. The formation of heterochromatin, which has condensed packaging, has been associated with silencing of gene transcription. But recent evidence indicates that RNA interference is involved in the targeting and maintenance of heterochromatin and that transcription is required to generate the small interfering RNAs.
