Isi artikelUntil now, surgery is the best management of cataract to prevent blindness, so follow up post surgery is very important. The arm of this study was to evaluate the visual outcome of patients with Senile Cataract who have undergone cataract surgery. Data was collected from the medical record of senile cataract extraction from January 1st 20Q4 until December 31st 2004 at Saiful Anwar Hospital. Information collected included age, sex, diagnosis, pre-operative and post operative visual acuity, and type of cataract extraction. The best corrected vision and uncorrected vision were recorded on 8 weeks after operation. There were 105 eyes (96 patients), sex ratio of male: female = 52,6% : 47,4%. Uncorrected visual acuity on 8 weeks after operation of 6/18 or better was obtained in 50,5% and visual acuity between 6/18 to 6/60 was 33,3%. Poor outcome with visual acuity less than 6/60 was found in 16,2% of population. Visual acuity with best correction on 8 weeks after operation of 6/18 or better was obtained 93,3%. And visual acuity between 6/18 to 6/60 was 4,8%. Poor outcome with visual acuity less than 6/60 was seen in 1,9%. Visual outcomes of senile cataract surgeries reach 98.1% good and boderline qualification and 1.9% poor qualification.
