Isi artikel
Feed efficiency of laying duck in indonesia is low. The main reasons for the low feed efficiency are : 1. genetic trait 2. high feed wastage and 3. adequate nutrient content in the diet. A research was conducted to evaluate the effects of various protein source on mojosari x alabio (MA) cross - bred duck performances from 1 to 24 weeks of age. The experiment was designed based on a completely randomized factorial 3 x 2 with two factors i. e. : 1. protein level (P) : 15,0 ; 17,5 ; and 20% 2. amino acid level (A) : lysine and dl - methionine (1,10% and 47% respectively) and 20,0% higher for lysine and dl - methionine (1,32% and 56% respectively). The results of this experiment showed that the protein levels, lysine and dl - methionine suplementations and its interaction did not significanlty affect feed consumption, live weight, feed convertion ratio (FCR) protein efficiency ratio (PER) and protein digestibility. Protein levels significantly decreased (p < 0,05) PER of ducks. However, PER was not affected by lysine and dl - methionine, supplementation and their interaction with protein levels. The interaction between 15,0% protein and the additional 20% of lysine and dl - metionine supplementation significantly increased (p < 0,05) live weigh of ducks. The interaction significanlty increased (p < 0,05) the average of egg production. However, live weight and egg production were not affected by protein levels or lysine and dl - methionine supplementation.
