The aim of this study is to describe the social change which happens in the community of sewulan's blacksmith, madiun, east java. The research question is how far the social change which began with market intervention has changed the relation of production patterns ? The research used qualitataive approach with case study methods and life history. The finding of this research show that the change of production relation patterns was caused by infrastructure's factors of economy and technology. The market domination by merchand caused the blacksmiths depend on the merchands who domiante the input and output market. The coming of technology changes petty commodity mode of production becames mode of production capitalism. Production relationpatterns where the blacksmiths as dominator the production and market began decrease, while the relation pattern employer - labor become increases. The market intervention and technology change th status of blacksmiths from the owners becomes labours.
