The importance of the size of a group in determining the quality and the quantity of human interactions and their outcomes for members has long been recognized as an important research issue. The specific issue of group size and absenteeism was summarized by porter dan lawler, steers and rhodes, and muchinsky. Portership between size and abseenteism at the factory level : three of three that were positive at the department level, but only one of the three that reported positive results at the work group level.
