The distinction between formal and informal participation has appeared in work about organization a number of times and is relevant to an understanding of employee participation in organization's Dachler and wilpert consider formal participation to be that which is explicity recorded and framed by a system of rules and procedures. Informal participation, on the other hand is a non staturory form of interaction.
