Isi artikelEnglish has been widely used by people all over the world. It has become one of the international languages. In relation to the importance of English, it is necessary for Indonesian people to learn English as their foreign language. Since 1994, Indonesian government has officially permitted English to be given to the Elementary School. Although English in Elementary School is a local content (not an obligatory subject), it implies that Indonesian government wants to prepare Indonesian citizens to be ready in facing the modern world as early as pos¬sible. In accordance with that topic, it is important for instructors to have some interesting methods to attract the Elementary School students in learning a new language. Besides, it is also better if the children characteristics are also considered. As it is categorized by Piaget, Elementary School children are in the period of Middle Childhood and their intellectual development is in the operational stage. These two characteristics can be the guidance in deciding the appropriate teaching methods.
