Teaching English for the Accounting Department, especially reading skill, has been very important. It is because the students will, in the immediate future, face the global market in which case the use of English will be considerably exposed Therefore. English mastery becomes absolutely a must. In order to equip the students with a particular skill such as reading ability, the teacher who is responsible for the instruction in classroom may be advisable to provide the knowledge of grammar. It will be most useful when they should deal with long sentences because long sentences, very often, are the cause of hindrance in catching the idea of such sentences. The knowledge of grammar which can be intro¬duced to the students basically include several topics. They are: Noun Cluster and Head word, Preposition group, Relative Clause after Head word, Complex Sentence, and Apposition. This writing, although it is largely descriptive, will also include a little observation as to what kind of sentences the students of the Accounting Department feel difficult to understand It is expected that teaching reading through analysing the pattern of the sentence will induce students improvement in reading skill.
