Isi artikel
Recently both the india - united states nuclear deal and the rian - pakistan - india (IPI) pipeline have been making headlines around the world. To many it seems incomprehensible htat the U. S. should extend preferential treatment to india in light of washington's non proliferation priorities and the bush administration's tough stance on iran. However, discussion of the to energy deals is ofter oversimplified and usually dails to take into account india's domestic and international priorities. Given india's global and regional ambitions, it becomes clear that the only oprtion for indian prime minister manmohan singh and his government is to walk a tightrope between the U. S. on one side and iran on the other. Yet given washington;s belief that coutries are either with or against the U. S. new delhi could quite easily find itself caught between its regional and global ambitions.
