Isi artikelIncreasing prevalence on obesity and lifè style changes in this modern era had increased the weight control practices, especially among women. However, the information on their nutritional intakes were limited. There fore, a cross sectional study, to explore the prevalence of weight control practices and its impact to nutritional intake, was done among women from middle to high socio economic class in Jakarta. There were 150 women aged 25-35 years, lecturers or young professionals, involved in this study through convenient technique. The interviews covered the weight control practices, health complains and nutritional intakes. Data were analyzed descriptively by SPSS and Nuirisurvey programs.There were 39,4% of respondents with body mass index above normal and there were 86,7 % of respondents who controlled their weight consistently during the last year and month. Besides that, it seems that weight control was done mostly (96% and 91,5%) and more frequently (51,9% and 52,9%) by the respondents who were overweight. However, there were only 40% of the respondents had health complains. Most of them controlled their weight consistently during the last year and month (42,6%). For nutritional intakes, apart from the iveight control practices, the nutritional intakes were lower than standard for most of respondents. The knowledge and practice on selecting the food and drink for diet substitution should be increased, involving the media, expert on health and nutrition and company. Besides that, further study would be needed to explore other factors influencing weight control practices and its nutritional intakes.
