Isi artikelThe waste of lube oil contains contaminant such as carbon residual, cracking alloy, and water solvent. The contaminant in waste lube oil is potential to form acid The Total Acid Number (TAN) of lube oil is the amount of milligram KOH needed to neutralize one milligram lube oil. One of the refining methods of lube oil is by using acid. The effect of giving acid to the refining process is that it (the acid) may possibly stay in lube oil, and it may cause alloy corrosion in the machine. To measure the TAN of lube oil performance is by using ASTM D-664 method. That is by comparing the waste and the new one. If it meets the requirements for industry, then the lube oil obtained from the refining process can be reused.
