Isi artikelThe antitrust prohibition against intraindustry research, development and production joint ventures has been an area of international competitive concern to american manufacturers, economists and policy makers since the late 1970 s. In the formulation of a U. S. technology policy, industry anti trust concerns were addressed through the passage by congress of legislation in 1984 and 1993 limiting financial liability of participants. Since passage of the legislation, the information collected by the U. S. department of justice offers mixed policy results. While intra industry research and development alliances have been flourishing, little activity has occured in the area of intra industry production collaborations.
