Isi artikelIn this study, a numerical model based on the finite volume method is newly developed. To accomplish a high-order temporal accuracy, the TVD version ofthe WAF second-order accurate scheme is introduced. The HLLC Riemann solver is used to evaluate inviscid fluxes at the cell face; it enables the scheme to handle discontinuous solutions. The surface gradient method is used for the source tenns to simulate the shallow water flows involving an abrupt step. In order to verify the numerical model, various problems such as a dam break flow, an oblique hydraulic jump, a hydraulic jump over a hump and a surge problem are tested. Obtained numerical results are compared with analytical solutions and other available results. in consequence, the results of the several tests used to validate the present model are quite satisfactory.
