This research attempted to analyze the impacts of enhancement of access modes to main one. In order to achieve this purpose, access mode choice behaviors are modeled using Probability Distribution Function (PDF), Multinomial Logit (MNL) and Nested Logit (NL) model. Also it was attempted to analyze the catchment areas for different access modes and factors affecting them. Factors affecting extend of catchment area such as main haul distance were evaluated. Based on survey results, service attributes such as access cost, in-vehicle travel time and out of vehicle travel time were found to have a great impact on access mode choice behavior. Socioeconomic factors such as age, gender, income, and occupation were found to affect access mode choice behavior. Apart from these factors, departure time of trip, egress mode used, and main haul distance were also found to affect access mode choice behavior. It was evaluated that NL model is most suitable to model access mode choice behavior. Selected NL model was applied to predict the impacts by adopting different policies. The results of policy sensitivity revealed that policies such as reducing in-vehicle travel time, waiting time and cost of bus show the best results with respect to enhancement of access modes to main mode. Providing express/dedicated bus service or HOV lanes, increasing frequency of bus service, restructuring bus fare system and offering concession on seasonal tickets were suggested to enhance the bus system in order to enhance public access mode to main mode.
