Isi artikel
The DIY (do - it - youself) home products industry encompasses products purchased by conusmers in retail outlets for self - installation in any part of a residential structure. The markekt is highly dependent on factors correlated with the expansion and financial stability of the aggregate housing environment, includin both new and exisitng homes. Demand for DIY home products is projected to increase 5,6 percent annually throgh the year 2000. Worldwide demand is expected to expand 10 - 15 percent annually through the remainder of the decade. No single manufacturing company dominates the DIY industry. The DIY sector of retailing is in the latter stages of a boom - bust - rationalization cycle. The operating stength of the retailers that survive coupled with the power that information technology offers retailers may mean pressures on manufacturers' DIY business margins.
